Was war passiert? Da StudiVZ dem Holzbrinck-Verlag gehört, möchte der natürlich, wie jedes Unternehmen, langsam aber sicher Geld mit dem StudiVZ verdienen. Dazu wurden am 9.12. seitens StudiVZ neue Allgemeine Geschäftsbedingungen angekündigt. Der Auslöser des Protestes: Der zukünftige Einsatz von personalisierter Werbung – zugeschnitten auf Alter, Geschlecht, Wohnort und Studiengang der Mitglieder. So weit so gut.

Schauen wir mal, was die anderen sozialen Plattformen so machen. Da wäre zum einen das wohl größte Social-Networking Portal der Welt – MySpace.
“Musik, Film, Sport, Mode, Reise, Autos – MySpace-Nutzer verraten auf ihren Profilseiten viele persönliche Vorlieben. Diese Selbstentblößung nutzt der Betreiber nun, um Anzeigenkunden perfekt definierte Zielgruppen anzubieten.” Spiegel Online, 19. September 2007
Aha, MySpace schaltet also Werbung auf Basis der Profile seiner Nutzer. Das kommt mir doch recht bekannt vor.

Und wie sieht’s mit Facebook, dem Vorbild von StudiVZ sozusagen, aus?
“Die Netzwerk-Websites Facebook und Myspace wollen die Möglichkeiten für Werbung bei ihren Nutzern deutlich ausbauen. So solle es bei Facebook künftig möglich sein, die Anzeigen gezielt unter Berücksichtigung zum Beispiel der persönlichen Interessen oder der Lieblingsfilme auszuwählen und zu platzieren, berichtete die US-Tageszeitung «Wall Street Journal» am Montag.”

Auch das – sehr bekannt.

Facebook geht sogar noch einen Schritt weiter, wie die Netzeitung weiter schreibt:
“Außerdem könnten Nutzer ihr Kaufverhalten zum Beispiel in Online-Shops von Facebook-Werbepartnern aufzeichnen lassen und dann ihre Freunde über ihre Einkäufe auf dem Laufenden halten.”
Es werden also auch Besuche in “Partner-Shops” außerhalb von Facebook aufgezeichnet und Facebook über den Einkauf informiert. Hmm…

Nun schauen wir mal über den Tellerrand der sozialen Platformen hinaus zu den Global Playern des Internet – Google und Amazon.
Google eröffnete im August 2005 seinen E-Mail Dienst “GMail”. Google, mittlerweile der größte Online-Anzeigen Vermarkter der Welt, durchsucht automatisiert die E-Mails seiner Nutzer und blendet daraufhin personalisierte Werbung ein.
Ein Beispiel: Ein Freund erzählt euch in einer E-Mail von einem Ärzte-Konzert, so könnte es sein, dass ihr neben der E-Mail die Werbung eines Konzertkarten-Händlers eingeblendet bekommt. Hier also wieder – personalisierte Werbung.
Dazu kommt noch: Google ist zwar “nicht böse (don’t be evil)”, gibt aber auch keine Interna Preis. Also weiss keiner wirklich, was mit den riesigen Datenmengen passiert, die durch Suchanfragen, E-Mail & Co. zusammenkommen. Und wenn jemand doch ein wenig offen über die eigene Firma plaudert wird er gefeuert. Alles ziemliche Geheimniskrämerei.

Amazon: Sicher kennt jeder die “Kunden kauften auch..”-Funktion. Dabei wird der Einkaufsbummel jedes Kunden aufgezeichnet, sogar alle Artikel, die der Kunde sich nur angesehen hat, und danach für andere Kunden aufbereitet und angezeigt. Da haben wir sie wieder – die personalisierte Werbung.

Und damit zurück ins wirkliche Leben. Wieviele von euch haben eine Payback-Karte? Was passiert überhaupt mit den Daten? Payback weiss jederzeit, was, wann und wo ihr was gekauft habt. Diese Daten werden gesammelt, daraus Kundenprofile erstellt und die Daten verkauft. Und das beste daran ist – ihr stimmt dem ganzen sogar zu!
“Wenn Sie bei der Anmeldung Ihre diesbezügliche Einwilligung erteilt haben, nutzt Loyalty Partner die Basisdaten, freiwilligen Angaben und gemeldeten Rabattdaten zu Zwecken der Marktforschung sowie zur individuellen Erstellung und Versendung ausgewählter Informationen (Werbung) per Post und in weiteren von Ihnen bestellten PAYBACK Services (z.B. E-Mail Newsletter).”

Fazit: Personalisierte Werbung ist längst überall, keiner kommt daran vorbei. Also was soll das Ganze auf einmal? Nicht das man gar nichts gegen die Verwendung seiner persönlichen Daten zu Werbezwecken tun sollen, doch das Ganze riecht schon stark nach Doppelmoral.
Aber schon niedlich anzusehen – dieser “Aufstand 2.0″.

I’ve been working at a German parcel service for a few hours daily to earn some money and you know, I also got a bit lazy. The thing is that I had to arrange my own life, I needed the time. I also thought about the future of QemuX in consideration to new circumstances: Apple’s Intel switch, perspectives for QemuX regarding my programming skills, competition with other apps, other projects I wanted to participate in… Now I settled down here where I am now, taking new steps in life, I can make some things clearer.

Life: Finishing my Abitur in 2003 I knew that I wanted to study at university. Directions were unclear for a long time, social work was considered, computer stuff, helping third world… You know, there is a time in life for a young man, where one asks himself: “Well, what is my task, what is my destiny in this system?” – And I don’t mean system stands for capitalism, society, social state, I think of destiny in a greater system, in a bigger context… man, it’s hard to describe.
Well, one would think helping the third world as a development aid worker would be the, let’s say ,’best’. My opinion about this changed in the last 2 years – I have another plan, but that’s secret… You will see. Something in society has to change, we have to built up a fair world, that’s not the way we can go on. We all should have learned from the past 2000 years and more… but we didn’t. Unfortunately. But things will change, for sure…

From October on I will study IT-Security at Ruhr-University Bochum. I think this can take me to a new direction- it’s interesting, powerful, responsible. Of course it’s a 600 kilometres move away from home, my first own flat, living alone… Thank god I have a family that supports me, my mom, my lil sis, my brother, my lovely grandparents…

Now I already live here in Bochum for about two weeks and I feel pretty comfortable! I visit a mathematics preparation course now from monday til’ friday and it’s quite cool, despite the fact that I feel a little lost, cause the topics are really hard.
In preparation to my courses and lectures I already bought some books: “Basics of electrical engineering” and “Java 5: First steps in programming”, in German, of course. Setting up Java 5 (which is not 5.0 but 1.5, crazy, he?) on OS X will be covered in another article later.

I hope you are now up-to-date and will read on here in my blog. I promise that I will from now on post a few more articles here.

2. Bucheinschlagfolie oder andere Folie (max. 0,5mm) – erh‰ltlich im Schreibwarenladen um die Ecke

3. Fingerspitzengefühl (leider nirgendwo käuflich zu erwerben)

Dann kann’s schon losgehen:

Zuerst gehts an die 4 Schrauben an der Gehäuseseite.

Alle werden nacheinander herausgeschraubt und sicher zur Seite gelegt.

Vorsichtig drücken wir das Cover mit beiden Händen,
wie auf dem Bild gezeigt, vom Display weg. Bitte keine rohe
Gewalt anwenden. Nur mit sanftem Druck alle 4 Ecken
vom Display lösen, dann löst sich auch das Cover.

So sieht das ganze nun aus.

Wir schneiden nun ein Stück aus der Folie aus,
was genau auf den Apfel des weissen Covers passt,
schliessen den Computer und legen es auf die
Rückseite des Displays. Es darf nicht viel grösser
als der Apfel selbst sein, da alles was übersteht
durch das weisse Cover durchscheinen kann.

Nun legen wir das Cover wieder auf das Display und
drücken es gleichmässig an allen Seiten und
Ecken vorsichtig fest. Dabei nochmal überprüfen, ob die
Farbfolie richtig sitzt und dann alle Schrauben wieder leicht
festziehen.

At first you’ll need an iBook, an 2 – USB – iBook (not “shell” iBook) – you need a parchment which is translucent in your favourite colour or at least the colour you want the apple to change into – you’ll need a Torx TX 5 (Am I right on this one?) and the guide, which is already on cordney’s disk so please be patient we will supply every information that you’ll need to change your apple! We have got some nice pictures of our very one iBooks which shine in blue and orange now!

One day we had the idea to customize our ibooks somehow.
That’s what it looks like now. The Apple-Logo coloured in favourite colour.
Principally it’s really simple,
you just need some time,
patience and the right tools.
costs: about 7-8 €.

What you need (purchase note):

1. screwdriver Torx Size 6 (TX 6), available in local building market

2. book cover foil or other (max. 0,5mm), available at local stationer’s

3. dexterity, unfortunately nowhere to buy

Let’s get started:
——————
First take the torx and remove the screws.

Put them aside so you can’t loose them.

Now we pull the cover very carefully off the case.
Remove the cover only with a soft pressure
on one edge after another, so the cover will be loosen.

That’s what it looks like now.

Go on with cutting a piece off the foil
fitting to the apple logo,
close the computer and lay it on
back of the display. It must not be bigger
than the logo, because it could be shining
through the white cover.

Last but not least we put the cover back to
the case and press it carefully on all sides and edges.
Remember checking if the foil fits perfect and afterwards
put the screws back into the case not that tight.
